Developing the oxford science park

Science and technology companies across the world want to move to Oxford and the required office and laboratory space is in short supply. We are therefore investing in ambitious plans to deliver this much needed space, essential to drive the growth and significance of the UK’s research and development activity.  This brings benefits to the local community too.

Our plans for development at the Park, shown above, will provide over 500,000 sq ft of additional laboratories and offices for more companies which will help to ensure that Oxford remains a global leader in the field of science and technology research. Plots 23-26 and Plot 27 (Minchery Farm) will create additional capacity that will support the growth of existing companies at TOSP and enabling new companies to join the Park.

Key features of Plot 23-26

  • 41,085m2 new laboratory and office floorspace across 3 buildings each comprising 4 storeys, arranged in a horseshoe.
  • Circa 900 car parking spaces (25% of which will have access to electric vehicle charging points) and 11 motorbike spaces
  • Circa 560 cycle parking spaces
  • Pedestrianised areas for health and wellbeing
  • High-quality landscaping with protection and improvement of biodiversity
  • Access for the local community with level access from Heatley Road

Key features of Plot 27 (Minchery Farm)

  • 8361m2 new laboratory and office floorspace across 4 storeys.
  • 202 car parking spaces (25% of which will have access to electric vehicle charging points) and 11 motorbike spaces
  • 94 cycle parking spaces
  • Retaining the natural setting of the site through high quality landscape design and  enhancing biodiversityat this Oxford City Wildlife Site
  • New westward access road linking to the rest of The Oxford Science Park

Other changes at The Oxford Science Park

In order to support the development of the Park, a new sewage pumping station is proposed north of Plot 27. This will be accommodated within a new compound comprising the pumping station and underground well, associated generator, fuel tank, electricity substation and lighting with access onto Minchery Lane to the east. This new infrastructure means that local needs will continue to be met.

This relocation of the sewage pumping station and substation will facilitate the development of Plot 16, which is currently underway. It will also provide space for the forecourt to the proposed Cowley Branch Line railway station at The Oxford Science Park. The proposals for the relocation have undergone an extensive design development process.
